What is FLV and SWF?

FLV and SWF are both formats that were designed to be used in Adobe Flash. FLV means Flash Video which is intended for video streaming on the internet. While SWF files can contain a variety of content. It could contain video, animation, games, even little applications. They are available to be used on Adobe Flash until it was discontinued on December 31, 2020. Because according to Adobe, it didn't take long for Flash to join other browser plugins like ActiveX and Java in being labeled a security risk. Try as it could, Adobe couldn't fix Flash, so in 2017, the company decided to cease development and kill Flash entirely by the end of 2020. So now, FLV and SWF files aren't available to be used in Adobe Flash. But FLV can be used in other multimedia players like VLC, Windows Media Player, etc.
